Sustainable Packaging

Sustainability is increasingly an urgent issue for consumers, with brands seeing the financial benefit of embedding sustainable business practices into their packaging design decisions.

Packaging design is something that can make or break a brand.

With sustainability increasingly becoming a top priority in the buying decision of consumers, brands which up to now were investing in sustainability initiatives as part of their own CSR objectives are seeing the financial benefit of embedding sustainability into their packaging decisions as part of their broader customer engagement strategy. At Perigord Brand Solutions we understand the need to balance the traditional creative elements of the buying decision around packaging, for example typography, graphics, ergonomics and safety, with the broader societal imperative of making packaging fully sustainable. We understand what influences the buying decision so we apply the latest thinking and best practice to deliver solutions that position our client’s products at the forefront of the customer’s mind. Our team of creative designers and packaging technologists work hand in hand to deliver creative and sustainable packaging solutions that are not only engaging, but also environmentally friendly and sustainable into the future.

Sustainable Packaging Philosophy:

Design

Is the product appealing to consumers?

Does the packaging reflect the product attributes and brand promise on shelf?

Is the information on pack easy-to-read and functional in form?

Materials

Have the materials been sourced from sustainable and renewable sources?

Have the raw materials been sourced using an ethically appropriate supply chain (i.e. no exploitation of people or natural resources)?

Can the material be reused, upcycled and or recycled?

Minimalism

Does the packaging solution (primary and secondary) minimise the use of materials? Reducing weight and physical dimensions results in less CO2 emissions during production and transportation.

Efficiency

Is the product protected during shipment?

Does the packaging support the customer's needs at home?
Does it successfully dispense the product, without spilling or damaging the product?

Does the packaging keep the product fresh?

Innovation

Does the packaging solution champion new ways of production?

Does the packaging use materials that are new and environmentally friendly?

Does it position the product positively in the eye of the consumer?
